As a migrant worker who has been working on projects in the Pearl River Delta all year round, I have stayed in no less than seven or eight hotels in Houjie. When I returned to the hotel after working overtime at 10 o'clock in the evening, the night snack stall on the first floor was still open. I ordered a stir fried goose intestines with soy sauce and a bowl of hot Congee. The tiredness of the whole day disappeared with the hot meal. In the self-service laundry room that is open 24 hours a day, the washing machine and dryer are always clean. The formal shirts I change out are washed and dried, and when I take them out the next morning, there are no wrinkles at all, so I don't have to wait for a long time at a dry cleaning shop.
During the few days I stayed, it happened to cool down. When the housekeeping lady passed by, she saw me opening the window to ventilate. In the afternoon, she quietly placed a cup of hot tangerine peel tea on my desk and left a note saying that the wind was strong by the lake, so she drank it to warm up. On the day of check-out, I was dragging my suitcase to catch the high-speed train. The doorman took the initiative to help me put the suitcase on the train and even handed me a small bag of hotel made Guanxiang tea bags, saying that if I got tired driving on the way, I could take a drink to refresh myself.
After staying for five days, there were no flashy internet celebrity gimmicks, it was all down-to-earth and thoughtful. When checking in, the front desk took the initiative to explain to me that all rooms strictly adhere to the "one guest, one exchange, three cancellations" standard. The first second I pushed open the door, I was stunned. There wasn't a lot of stuffy smell commonly seen in old hotels that had been open for many years. The bedding feels fluffy and freshly dried, and there is no odor on the pillow. I lifted the sheets to check the mattress, but couldn't find a single strand of hair left behind. What surprised me the most were the easily overlooked parts: the air conditioning vents by the window had no dust accumulation, and the air blown out after opening had no stuffiness; The corners of the spacious business desk are polished to a shiny finish, without any residual coffee stains; The spare blankets and pillows in the wardrobe are well sealed with dust bags, so there is no dampness when taken out. Once I went back to my room early to pick up documents and happened to catch the cleaning lady cleaning. I saw her using different colored cloths to wipe the tabletop, countertop, and bathroom separately. The cloth used to wipe the toilet would never touch the washbasin, and even the floor was dragged twice in one direction with a mop. Finally, she used a dry cloth to wipe the water stains on the skirting board clean.
The hygiene in public areas is also reassuring. Every time a customer leaves the breakfast room, they immediately wipe and disinfect the table. The plates in the pick-up area are all freshly disinfected with residual heat. Even the elevator buttons have free disinfectant wipes placed next to them, which can be used at any time. The few days I stayed happened to coincide with the rainy season, and the hotel took the initiative to arrange for staff to come and help me dust and dry the coat I brought for the business trip for free.
